Folding the Paper Lamp
Straight to glue!

Step 1.
Pick up a segment and familiarize yourself with the texture. Make sure which side is the front and which is the back. The front can be recognized by the crease lines, while the back has no creases. As this is a very strong premium paper, it is important that you carry out this task calmly and with great concentration in order to avoid making mistakes when folding. Although folding may seem tricky at first, it will pay off in the end with a beautiful result. Apply even more focus to variants with patterns. Due to their nature, these segments can easily make mistakes when folding! Please work carefully and take enough time for it.

Step 2.
Pick up one segment and turn it so the back is facing you. This will make it easier to fold in half. Fold the paper together using light pressure, making sure the paper folds in the right place. Use your thumb and forefinger to trace the fold and get a clean edge.

Step 3.
Turn the sheet over and perform the same fold again on the other side so that the segment on the front is now facing you as a "mountain fold".
(Mountain folds face the fold towards you and look like a mountain, whereas valley folds face away from you and look like a valley)

step 4
Now we fold the grooves in the lower part of the segment. Hold the segment between your index and ring fingers with both hands and apply light pressure to the paper using your thumb and index finger. Now fold the groove as a "mountain fold" and push the paper away from you. The ring finger helps to set the fold correctly.

step 5
Your segment should now look like the picture. You can see the front, which will ultimately represent the outside of the lamp.

step 6
Repeat the same process for the remaining three grooves.

step 7
To achieve the final shape, "valley fold" the center fold at the bottom of the panel.

step 8
Your segment should now look like the image.

step 9
To complete the segment, fold the adhesive sides away from you so the ends are toward the back.

step 10
Continue this for all 24 segments.
On to gluing!
When you have folded all 24 segments, on the following page we will show you how to glue everything together and how to shape your Paper Lamp.
